Despair,
Quote: Despair of ever being saved, “except thou be born again,” or of seeing God “without holiness,” or of having part in Christ except thou “love him above father, mother, or thy own life.” This kind of despair is one of the first steps to heaven. Richard Baxter
Fear,
Quote: Like one, that on a lonesome road Doth walk in fear and dread, And having once turned round, walks on, And turns no more his head; Because he knows a frightful fiend Doth close behind him tread. Samual Taylor Coleridge
Death,
Quote: Somewhere, in desolate, wind-swept space, In twilight land, in no man’s land, Two hurrying shapes met face to face And bade each other stand. “And who are you?” cried one, a-gape, Shuddering in the glimmering light. “I know not,” said the second shape, “I only died last night.” Thomas Bailey Aldrich
Deception,
Quote:For I have sworn thee fair, and thought thee bright, who art as black as hell, as dark as night. William Shakespeare
Insanity,
Quote: Much madness is divinest sense To a discerning eye; Much sense the starkest madness. ‘Tis the majority In this, as all, prevails Assent, and you are sane; Demur,–you’re straightway dangerous, And handled with a chain. Emily Dickinson
