Hit Parade: 30 Oktober 1965

27/10/2012 in Uncategorized

1. What’s new Pussycat – Tom Jones (2)

2. Goodbye my love – Murray Campbell (1)

3. Tossing and turning – Ivy League (3)

4. Unchained melody – Righteous Brothers (5)

5. Satisfaction – Rolling Stones (4)

6. You’ve got your troubles – Fortunes (7)

7. California Girls – Beach Boys (8)

8. I’ve got you babe – Sonny & Cher (nuut)

Cher as sangeres is in haar later jare as ‘n ikoon beskou.

Atlantis was deur deur Donovan voorgedra:

“The continent of Atlantis was an island, which lay long before the great flood in the area we now call the Atlantic Ocean.

So great an area of land, that from her western shores those beautiful sailors journeyed to the South and the North Americas with ease, in their ships with painted sails.

To the east Africa was our neighbour across a short strait of sea miles.

The great Egyptian age is but a remnant of the Atlantean culture.

The antediluvian kings colonised the world.

All the Gods who play in the mythological dramas in all legends are from fair Atlantis.

Knowing our fate, Atlantis sent out ships to all corners of the Earth.

On board were the Twelve:

The poet, the physician, the farmer, the scientist, the magician, and the other so-called Gods of our legends.

Though Gods they were –

And as the elders of our time choose to remain blind

Let us rejoice and let us sing and dance and ring in the new

Hail Atlantis!

(sing)

Way down below the ocean is where I wanna be …

(tot vervelens toe)

Padsterftes in S.A.

25/10/2012 in Uncategorized

Hiervan was 40% voetgangers (65% was weens dronkbestuurders of dronk voetgangers).

Sak Sarel!

The end of cheap gold is here

24/10/2012 in Uncategorized

This contribution by Briton Ryle in “Wealth Daily” newsletter, October 8th, 2012 is presented verbatim (recommendations omitted), for what it’s worth:

Please note that neither I, nor the source (“Wealth Daily”) represent or guarantee the accuracy of the statements made herein.

“My jaw hit the floor when one of my colleagues showed me the irrefutable evidence a few months ago. Quite simply, what he showed me was the biggest, most important story for gold in the last 40 years…

The gist of the story is that everything investors think they know about the value of gold will change on January 1, 2013. Because on that day, gold will finally be rated as a cash equivalent – just like Treasury bonds are now.

January 1. That’s just three months from today. I’ve waited for the major media outlets – CNCB, Bloomberg, The Financial Times, and the Wall Street Journal – to pick this story up…… But so far, nothing. Nada. Zip. Either these media-types are more ignorant than I thought (which would be a significant achievement, at least for CNCB), or they’re deliberately burying this life-changing story. At this point it barely matters. Gold’s status is going to change, whether it’s reported far and wide or not. The price of gold will go a lot higher in 2013 and beyond….

Maybe you’ve heard of the global banking regulatory group that meets in the small mountain town of Basel, Switzerland, every few years. This group of bankers is responsible for setting global banking standards. They decide things like which assets qualify as Tier 1 assets, how much loan loss reserves banks need to hold, and how much leverage banks can take on.

Officially known as the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision, it’s only met three times in the last 20 years. The first meeting was in 1988. The second meeting, Basel 2, in 2004, was a disaster. The Basel banking geniuses allowed mortgage-backed securities to be considered a Tier 1 asset. (A Tier 1 rating means that the asset is considered a cash equivalent.) Of course, after the housing crash and ensuing Great Recession, we know that mortgage-backed securities are nowhere near as good as cash.

So in 2010, the committee met again to fix their past mistakes. It was at this meeting – known as Basel 3 – that the biggest news for gold in 40 years emerged: news that could sent gold prices to … The Basel Commettee on Banking Supervision ruled that gold could be included as a Tier 1 asset. In other words, Basel 3 rules make gold just as good as cash or Treasury bonds.

Why is this such critical news for gold? Well, it has to do with how a bank’s assets are used to back the loans that the bank makes. Before Basel 3, banks had to hold around 6% of the total value of outstanding loans as collateral for those loans. Most of that 6% was comprised of what’s called Tier 1 assets: cash and company stock (Treasury bonds count as cash.) After Basel 3, banks are required to hold approximately 12% of Tier 1 capital.

But the big news is that gold will now be considered a Tier 1 asset. Prior to Basel 3, a bank could only count 50% of gold’s market value as collateral.  As of January 1, 2013, gold’s value will double as a banking asset.

Again, I don’t know why this isn’t reported by the major financial media. Basel 3 will fundamentally change the way gold is valued by the financial markets……

The European Union will adopt Basel 3 rules in 2013. So will Russia and Japan. China, India, and even Pakistan are on board. Australia, New Zealand, Brazil and South Africa, too. Basel 3’s new rules for gold are coming …”

1. Goodbye my love – Murray Campbell (1)
2. What’s new Pussycat – Tom Jones (4)
3. Tossing and turning – Ivy League (2)
4. Satisfaction – Rolling Stones (3)
5. Unchained melody – Righteous Brothers (8)
6. Catch us if you can – Dave Clark Five (5)
7. You’ve got your troubles – Fortunes (herverskyning)
8. California girls – Beach Boys (nuut)

When the moon is in the seventh house
And Jupiter aligned with Mars,
Then peace will rule the planets
And love will steer the stars.
This is the dawning of the Age of Aquarius
The Age of Aquarius, Aquarius, Aquarius.

Harmony and understanding
Sympathy and trust abounding
No more falsehoods and derisions
Golden living dreams of visions
Mystic crystal revelation
And the mind’s true revelation.
Aquarius, Aquarius, Aquarius.

Drome

17/10/2012 in Sonder kategorie

So is daar later ‘n stuk of tien voor my met die voorste een buite sig.

Hy vertel my my kar is weggesleep omdat dit  gevaarlik vir ander verkeer was. Ek vererg my vir hom. “Jou gatvas [email protected]*&! Hier is g’n verkeer nie. Waar sien jy verkeer?”

8. Unchained Melody – Righteous Brothers (nuut)

‘Goodbye my love’, reeds 5 weke op No.1, ewenaar die rekord gehou deur ‘A hard day’s night’ (Beatles).

‘What’s new Pussycat’ het ook ‘n afrikaanse ekwivalent gehad, ‘Wat’s nuut Kokkewiet’.

Unchained Melody

Oh, my love, my darling

I’ve hungered for your touch

A long lonely time.

Time drags by so slowly

And one can do so much.

Are you still mine?

I need your love, I need your love

Godspeed your love to me.

Lonely rivers flow to the sea, to the sea

To the open arms of the sea, yeah.

Lonely rivers sigh, wait for me, wait for me.

I’ll be coming home, wait for me.

Oh, my love ……. (herhaal alles)

“France Surrenders”

10/10/2012 in Sonder kategorie

By Christian A. Dehaemer (Wealth Daily, 09 October 2012)

“The bread is great, the food is perfect, the wine is outstanding. There are few things more enjoyable than whiling away the day drinking coffee and playing cards at a sidewalk cafe in a medieval city. The French know how to live. The problem is they cannot afford it any longer.

Winter is Coming

Europe is already in hot water. Stocks in Europe were down yesterday. Greece is saying they will run out of money if they don’t get a yet another bailout this month. And in a vignette that encapsulates the European system, finance ministers in Brussels are putting heavy pressure on Spain to ask them for money. Meanwhile, housing prices are in free fall in the Netherlands, down 8% in August alone. That’s what’s going on in the periphery. In the center, it’s starting to get real…

France has the fifth largest economy in the world, second only to Germany in Europe. In 2011 the GDP grew at 1.85% – below Germany at 2.9%, but more than the UK, which grew by 0.6%. France is home to 2.6 million folks who are worth more than a million dollars. It is the world’s fourth wealthiest nation in aggregate household wealth. After 2000, wealth per adult grew very strong in France – tripling in value between 2000 and 2007. This was caused by the rise of the euro against the dollar, but was also due to a rapid increase in house prices. Things have changed since then. The economy has been stagnating for the last five quarters.

The Bank of France reported they believe the French economy shrunk 0.1% in the third quarter.

The business sentiment indicator for industry fell to 92 in September from 93 previously, while production remained below the long-term average for the sector.

The national statistics agency INSEE said last week it expected France’s economy to “continue to post zero growth in the final quarter of the year.”

Business confidence is down.

Sentiment among manufacturing executives is falling.

Unemployment is at a 13-year high: over 10%

Hard Reversals

Five months ago France voted in the head of the Socialist Party, Francois Hollande, on a promise he would secure the recovery and get the budget within 3% of the deficit. Holland would do this by hitting the rich with a 75% tax on those making more than 1 million. He would tax capital gains on housing and business at 62.21% (up from 34.5%). He told Renault not to lay off workers; he is talking about raising the minimum wage 20% and dropping the retirement age to 60.

Naturally, people don’t like giving the vast majority of their money to the government. Rich people are starting to leave. The Prime Minister of Brittain said that they should move to London and that he would roll out the red carpet. French job-seekers boosted the numbers at London recruitment agency Astbury Martin. Applications at the banking headquarters jumped 51%. It was reported yesterday that 500 expensive houses valued at more than 1 million euro have been put on the Paris market since May. Renault responded to government thuggery by moving 70% of its new operations to Turkey.

It was H.L. Mencken who wrote, “Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want and deserve to get it good and hard.”

Hollande has promised a socialist austerity program that will hold spending growth over the next five years to 0.7% annually, and bring the budget within 3% of its annual deficit (down from 4.5%). In total, the government is in debt of 91% of its GDP – and growing. The French president aims to reduce this debt by raising taxes to putative levels on the rich.

And as we learn time and time again, if you punish something, you get less of it. In this case, France will have less millionaires and fewer entrepreneurs.”

Ice-core warming within bounds

07/10/2012 in Sonder kategorie

Graham Lloyd, environmental editor, The Australian, August 23,2012

“Recent warming of the Antarctic Peninsula is unusual but not unprecedented relative to natural variation, according to research published today in Nature. The Antarctic is currently one of the most rapidly warming regions on Earth but an analysis of ice-core records has found the rise in temperatures is “within the bounds of natural climate variability over the past 600 years”.

The research by Robert Mulvaney of the British Antarctic Survey, Cambridge, countered assumptions that human factors were responsible for the warming of the Antarctic ice shelf. But it said if warming continued, it would still pose a danger to the stability of the ice shelf. Dr. Mulvaney’s temperature estimates, based on ice-core record, show that warming of the northeastern Antarctic Peninsula began about 600 years ago. Dr. Mulvaney and colleagues present a deuterium-based record from about 12,000 years ago to the present. Deuterium is a naturally occurring isotope of hydrogen, which is found in water and can be used to accurately determine historic temperature.

According to Dr. Mulvaney’s  research, the ice-core record indicates that after peak warmth in the early Holocene epoch, temperatures were stable until about 2,500 years ago when a sharp cooling took place. Although temperatures have risen by about 1.5C over the past century, the authors note that this increase is within the bounds of natural variability over the past 600 years.”

Lace- covered window

When you walk through the world all alone

With your dreams and your passions behind you

Then the tears in your eyes will remind you

Of the view through a lace-covered window

Life to you is a lace-covered window

Nothing seems very clear anymore

Everything in your world is uncertain

And you wish you could pull back the curtain

Just to see through that lace-covered window

See the world through that lace-covered window

And you’ll never know, dear, what life has in store

What’s waiting there to greet you

So pull back the curtain, maybe once more

Your love is there to meet you

As you walk side by side through the world

No more days full of darkness and sorrow

Every dawn brings a bright new tomorrow

When you open that lace-covered window

Let the sun through that lace-covered window

Arctic Melt-down, ensovoorts

Arctic ice forces Shell to cut back drilling – Tom Fowler

“Royal Dutch Shell is spending billions of dollars to drill the first oil wells in US Arctic waters in 20 years, backed by an Obama administration eager to show it is not opposed to offshore exploration. But the closely watched project isn’t going the way the company or the government hoped – illustrating the continuing challenge of plumbing for natural riches in one of the world’s most unforgiving locations. Sea ice in the Chukchi and Beaufort seas off the northern Alaska coast was slow to break up this year, leaving the drilling areas inaccessible much later than anticipated.

………., likely pushing the start date for drilling into September – closer to when the seas will begin to freeze again. …….”

Oor die Proteas se treurmare teen Australie moet liewer so min as moontlik gese word.
