2019 | Dankie | Thank You

December 23, 2019 in Uncategorized

Hy is ‘n geoktrooieerde rekenmeester.

We have come to the end of a year with special highlights, but also challenges. The biggest of biggest challenge was the death of Rudolf Bezuidenhout, who for the past 10 years, was a father-figure for our children and a leader for the staff.

We would like to thank every donor, company and volunteer involved with the Durbanville Children’s home. It is a wonderful privilege to, with you, take care of the 144 children at the Home.

We are also privileged to welcome our newly appointed manager, Jan Slabbert, from 1 January 2020. He is a Chartered Accountant and with his accounting qualifications, compassionate heart and management experience we believe he will add great value to the Durbanville Children’s Home. He is also a valued volunteer who has already made a huge contribution to the lives of our teenage boys.

I would like to share an extract from an interview Sig had with him:

“Delia and I have the privilege of moving to the Children’s Home, after almost 20 years in Durbanville, part of the church, 4 children through the schools and living, working and playing in the Durbanville area. The support and encouragement we receive from various sectors across the community leave us humble and very grateful.

“We hope we can further develop the Durbanville Children’s Home into a gem of which the Durbanville community can be proud off.

“We realise there is a great task ahead, which will some days ask us difficult questions, but we will do our best and allow the Lord to build the Durbanville Children’s Home in His name.  We just want to be His, and the Durbanville Community’s, hands and feet at the Home.”

We are looking forward to making a difference, with your support in the lives of the 144 vulnerable children that call Durbanville Children’s Home their home.
