The beloved and I got married on December 10, 1994.

izak elma trouhemde 1994We had no desire to make debt and neither of us wanted her to look like a cream puff. Furthermore, in the true African Tradition, we tried to welcome anyone who would want to share the day with us. We also wanted to make it clear that we are equal partners.

We decided to get married in jeans and African shirts. The beloved has always liked Coptic Crosses, so one day while walking in a market, we spotted these two shirts and we knew: We have found them!

The Coptic Church has survived for many centuries under difficult circumstances, but it also adapted and to its environment.

Our wedding invitation read: We are going to wear jeans, you may do too.

It was a simple wedding with tea afterwards. Everyone was welcome.

We still wear the shirts every now and then, and we put them on again on December 10, 2014.

Almal was welkom.
